INTERNSHIP POSITION – Spring 2012 Semester

CCHMA is looking for a part-time college student intern to join our team for the Spring Semester 2012.  You will create original and engaging content using social media channels and the website to promote CCHMA.  The successful candidate will be a fast learner, easy to work with and eager to gain solid, in-the-trenches hospitality marketing experience.

 Interns must take direction well, be motivated self-starters, be open and excited to learn new technologies, and be able to function effectively within a small group of very busy people.

This part-time position is for 15 weeks and the hours will vary per week. The internship is an unpaid opportunity to gain industry experience.  You can conduct most of the work from your home. You will be required to attend Board meetings whenever possible (within the Cape Cod area.)  Interns will be encouraged to apply for annual CCHMA scholarships. 

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS 

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Strong computer, Internet and research skills.
  • Education or experience in programming or Web design, including the WordPress publishing platform.
  • Solid, real-world experience in social media including Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter and blogging.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Experience creating and publishing interesting and compelling content.
  • Good organizational skills and the ability to meet or beat frequent deadlines.
  • Hospitality experience or a current course of study in a hospitality-related field.
  • Familiarity with Cape Cod and the Islands. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support the CCHMA Board of Directors with content updates for website, social-networking sites, and e-mailing systems by monitoring and posting to our existing social media channels and website.
  • Identify online opportunities and make recommendations for social media and web site initiatives
  • Research Web design, social media, publishing, e-mail or hosting options and report pricing and system options to the Board.
  • Research unusual technological bugs or issues that CCHMA may encounter.
  • Attend Board meetings and CCHMA events.
